1. Its FUN!! And because its so fun, we present reason number two! 2. Dressing up gives us a chance to practice creativity, social skills and play skills! So many natural opportunities to teach and practice these important skills!

Rock Valley Evacuates Residents
Crest Predicted Friday
ROCK VALLEY, IA— Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo issued a state of emergency for the City of Rock Valley due to the rising floodwaters.
“With the heavy rains up stream we are again facing flooding that is affecting our citizens and city close to the level of the record floods of 2014. Despite the best efforts of the 400 plus volunteers on Thursday evening, we were not able to hold the water back,” said Mayor Van Otterloo.
Mandatory evacuations have been issued for parts of Rock Valley for over a dozen square blocks in preparation of rising floodwaters. The city called for volunteers to establish berms and fill sandbags Thursday evening.
“Our primary responsibility is to keep our citizens safe,” said Mayor Van Otterloo.
“The Sioux County Emergency Management has been involved in protecting the citizens of Rock Valley and Sioux County with the most recent floods. We have been in contact with the American Red Cross, helped dispatch trucks with sand, and been in communication with the National Weather Service to work alongside Rock Valley helping with whatever resources we can provide,” stated Sioux County Emergency Management Director Nate Huizenga.
The Rock River is predicted to crest at 21.5 feet, which is the second highest crest in recent history. The river crested at 22.72 feet in 2014 when many homes were damaged in floodwaters.
Churches have been designated within the city as emergency housing shelters for those evacuees that need shelter. Emergency personnel has been dispatched from Orange City, Hull, Sioux Center as back up to Rock Valley Fire and Rescue while they are assisting in flood relief.

Behavior Analysis in Practice is announcing a call for papers for a special issue on #Diversity and #Equity in the Practice of #BehaviorAnalysis. Right now is the time to do something about this issue in all of our lives and ABAI is taking a strong step forward by endorsing this move. The incredible Dr. Jennifer Zarcone is the guest editor for the issue. If you are a #behavioranalyst or a family member of someone who has benefited from ABA services, and you care about diversity, however you define it, you should seriously consider submitting a manuscript. The deadline for submissions is October 1st.
We are looking for a DIVERSE variety of submissions from a DIVERSE variety of authors. You do not need to be someone "famous" in the field of behavior analysis to have a voice in this special issue. You do not need to have a PhD, you do not need to be at a university, and you don't need to be an accomplished researcher - you just need to have something to say about diversity that you believe the field of ABA would benefit from hearing. #TimesUp for silence. The time to have your voice heard is now.

Thank you to Behaviorbabe for this awesome write up about B.F. Skinner. Using his teachings, we are able to deliver effective, data-based interventions to improve the lives of many. Without his incredible knowledge, we would not be where we are today. Happy birthday! 🎁🎈🎉Happy birthday to B.F. (Burrhus Frederic) Skinner. B.F. Skinner (March 20, 1904 – August 18, 1990) remains America’s most influential behavioral scientist. Skinner researched continuous actions to see what determined their frequency. With rate as a measure of probability, he discovered that control over actions lay in their consequences. Unlike respondent conditioning where Pavlov demonstrated control by antecedent events, Skinner showed that for all other behavior control lies in postcedent events. He called this class of behavior “operant”. Skinner’s discovery initiated a new science based on the relation between actions and their immediate results. He initiated the procedure of shaping, demonstrated the effects of schedules of reinforcement, and extended his analysis to verbal behavior. Thousands of researchers and practitioners have expanded the science under the name of behavior analysis. Interest continues to increase in B. F. Skinner’s works.
