There’s no surprise when it’s said that bullying is a major problem among the school-aged children of the US. However, the very unfortunate part is that according to a new national survey, bullying is an increasingly big problem for kids with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
It absolutely should be changed! Shame on the people who feel it’s funny to do this. They must feel bad about themselves!!!! I guess having parents who teach you never to make fun of anyone who is different. Glad I was taught that!!!
There you go Bradford!...
Sad to say but parents that cannot say "no" to their children and laugh at everything they say are creating bullies!!!

Rock Valley Evacuates Residents
Crest Predicted Friday
ROCK VALLEY, IA— Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo issued a state of emergency for the City of Rock Valley due to the rising floodwaters.
“With the heavy rains up stream we are again facing flooding that is affecting our citizens and city close to the level of the record floods of 2014. Despite the best efforts of the 400 plus volunteers on Thursday evening, we were not able to hold the water back,” said Mayor Van Otterloo.
Mandatory evacuations have been issued for parts of Rock Valley for over a dozen square blocks in preparation of rising floodwaters. The city called for volunteers to establish berms and fill sandbags Thursday evening.
“Our primary responsibility is to keep our citizens safe,” said Mayor Van Otterloo.
“The Sioux County Emergency Management has been involved in protecting the citizens of Rock Valley and Sioux County with the most recent floods. We have been in contact with the American Red Cross, helped dispatch trucks with sand, and been in communication with the National Weather Service to work alongside Rock Valley helping with whatever resources we can provide,” stated Sioux County Emergency Management Director Nate Huizenga.
The Rock River is predicted to crest at 21.5 feet, which is the second highest crest in recent history. The river crested at 22.72 feet in 2014 when many homes were damaged in floodwaters.
Churches have been designated within the city as emergency housing shelters for those evacuees that need shelter. Emergency personnel has been dispatched from Orange City, Hull, Sioux Center as back up to Rock Valley Fire and Rescue while they are assisting in flood relief.

Behavior Analysis in Practice is announcing a call for papers for a special issue on #Diversity and #Equity in the Practice of #BehaviorAnalysis. Right now is the time to do something about this issue in all of our lives and ABAI is taking a strong step forward by endorsing this move. The incredible Dr. Jennifer Zarcone is the guest editor for the issue. If you are a #behavioranalyst or a family member of someone who has benefited from ABA services, and you care about diversity, however you define it, you should seriously consider submitting a manuscript. The deadline for submissions is October 1st.
We are looking for a DIVERSE variety of submissions from a DIVERSE variety of authors. You do not need to be someone "famous" in the field of behavior analysis to have a voice in this special issue. You do not need to have a PhD, you do not need to be at a university, and you don't need to be an accomplished researcher - you just need to have something to say about diversity that you believe the field of ABA would benefit from hearing. #TimesUp for silence. The time to have your voice heard is now.

Reinforcement is used daily in our clinics. But did you know it’s also used in many other settings?!
Reinforcement is ANYTHING added to the environment to cause an increase in future behavior. Think about it. Why do you go to work everyday? There’s many things that keep you motivated. For example, we reinforced staff’s excellent work ethic with positive feedback and donuts.
What reinforces or motivates you?! Let us know in the comments! ... See MoreSee Less

Hot summer days make for cool summer sessions! The Midco Aquatic Center is the BEST place to have session!
Why would we hold a session at a pool? The reasons are endless! Here are just a few:
1. We want clients to practice and learn skills outside their typical day-to-day environments so that they can apply them in all settings. 2. Summer means lots of swimming! Safety is a priority for many families. We can’t think of a more perfect place to practice summer safety skills than at the pool. 3. Take a look at these kids. They work hard!
